Mannie Garcia: Shepard Fairey BarackSploited Me!
You know the famous Shephard Fairey poster we all know and love? The one we like to riff on for our individual BarackSploitations? Well photographer Mannie Garcia filed court papers effectively saying, “Hold up a sec, Shep. That’s my photo you’re gettin’ rich and famous off of.”
Garcia has filed a suit claiming that he (and not the Associated Press and not Fairey) owns the photo that is the basis for the iconic poster. The photographer now HOPEs to score a cut of the bling-bling collected by Fairey.
